Upcoming National Portfolio Days for High School Art Students
This is a great opportunity for high school artists to receive constructive feedback from college and university representatives on their artwork! Representatives from the nation’s leading art colleges and universities accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design will travel to VCUarts in Richmond, VA on October 27th and Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at GWU in Washington, DC on November 17th to review your artwork, discuss your educational and professional goals, and share information on art programs, careers, admissions, and financial aid and scholarships.

What should I bring?
In your portfolio, it’s advised that you bring up to 20 of your best, most recent works. These works can include finished pieces, work in progress, and sketchbooks. Bring your original artwork whenever possible. Keep the presentation simple; there is no need to spend time or money on extra matting or framing your art, as the work itself is more important. If your work is bulky, difficult to move, or time-based, you can bring a laptop, CD/ DVD, or flash-drive.
(Note: Be aware that not all representatives will have a laptop. If you bring your own be sure your battery is charged; you may not get access to a power outlet.)
Locally in Leonardtown, if your student is a Raider, I noticed that SCAD will be visiting the high school on Friday, October 5th during B Lunch.
Be on the lookout for my Artsy Shopping List for College-Bound Artists, coming later this fall!
In the meantime, keep working on those early decision deadlines and remember if you need help, I am one click away!
