Mistaken Identity is a body of work consisting of ten artworks made from artists proofs from 2004 – 2013. Each stack of paper is approximately 1.5 x 1.5 x 2 inches. Patterson has been making stacked collages since 2008. The idea for this series came from making the Quilt Paintings and wanting to see a series of squares in stacked paper. The series took 3 years to complete.
