Light Box is a body of work consisting of 6 stacked paper paintings and 6 stacked paper sculptures, made in my studio in Leonardtown. The studio is an old house with 26 windows, located near the town square. I started drawing from the windows of the studio three years ago. Artists traditionally use windows as a frame to see beyond their immediate location. These windows function more like solid mass, with space filled rather than open. Working from the same building and same set of windows provides a constant structure in which I can mine the building and the land as a living body. I am able to re-visit and re-see this particular site over a period of time.  Cardboard is a material that is abundant, strong, and dense. I was able to build out from the wall and onto the floor, creating stacked, layered, visual memories of my process and experience.
